Every now and then, this quote pops in my head. Out of everything people have said about Godzilla through the years, to me, this is what perfectly describes the character. We tend to ask the question, "what definitively is Godzilla?" Is he an allegory for the atomic bomb? Is he a force of nature? Is he a hero or villain? But to me, he's a messenger. Throughout his history in film, no matter how many versions there are of him, they all have one thing in common. They all teach us lessons. He has taught us about the dangers of atomic power, he has taught us about the importance of the environment, he has taught us about the corruption of governments, and he has taught us about having faith. No matter what version of him you're watching, they all have something to teach you. Like what Raymond Burr said, "whether he returns or not, or is never again seen by human eyes, the things he has taught us remain."
